ON BRANCH LAKE

Start your day with coffee on the porch followed by a canoe ride. Wild life is abundant if you are quiet. Here is a bald eagle who lives in the treetops nearby and fishes regularly around the island.

Another early morning treat is the picture perfect calm water (usually) early in the day. It makes for wonderful working conditions.

And when the work is done, the boys like to hang out in the hammock!

Lobster feeds on the Maine coast are of course, expected, but why not bring some home to Twig Cove and try your hand at boiling up a nice dinner.

The best times of all at Twig Cove are family dinners on the porch. There is plenty of room for all.

Pretty as a picture? You bet! You will go home with tons of great photos.

After dinner, sit right by that fire (See the logs burning in the photo above?) and watch the sun go down while you review the day, the week or the past year. It will become your nightly ritual.

And did I mention sunsets? What a way to end a wonderful day.

EXPLORE THE COASTAL REGION

Our area has a spectacular new world class attraction. Dedicated in May 2007, the Penobscot Narrows Observatory, is perched atop of one of the towers of the new Penobscot Narrows Bridge, spanning Verona Island and the south shore of the Penobscot River in Prospect. The 42 story high observatory offers expansive vistas of the river flowing below out to the nearby ocean and birds eye views of the village of Bucksport and surrounding towns.

Access to the observatory is via Fort Knox, one of the best preserved fortifications on the New England seacoast, built in 1844.

These two photos are of a beautiful working fishing village named Stonington. These days, it is augmenting its population with artists and tourist looking for an 'undiscovered' jewel.

If you are into country fairs, Maine has a full schedule all summer long. These are photos from the nearby Blue Hill Fair that takes place every Labor Day weekend.
